Starting with July this year, the railway transport from China to Romania through the Middle Corridor has become a reality that offers great opportunities to the Romanian importers requiring transport of goods from China, much more efficient than the sea freight.
Following the problems generated by the blockade of the Suez Canal and the decision of shipowners to bypass Africa via the Cape of Good Hope, the transit route of goods by sea from China to Romania has become extremely difficult and with very long transit times.
With the rail freight transport solution through the Middle Corridor (both full 40′ FCL containers and LCL groupages), Arwen Olsen offers Romanian importers a route that avoids transit through Russia and at the same time is covered in record time by the trains that operate on this route, crossing the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea with the help of small feeder vessels.
Thus, the total transit time of a container on the Shanghai – Constanta route (via Yiwu, Aktau, Baku, Poti) reaches approximately 35-40 days, making it a superior alternative to the maritime route, which recently recorded transit times of almost double compared to the railway one.
