Potential situations of port congestion in Constanta on the horizon

Following the difficulties and blockages encountered by Ukrainian importers and exporters at the border between Poland and Ukraine, a large part of them are currently turning to new transit routes for goods.

Therefore, one of the most attractive alternatives to the transit of Ukrainian goods through Poland (via Gdansk) becomes the port of Constanta. Ukrainian traders are increasingly turning to the support offered by Romanian freight forwarders that offer containerized maritime transport services from China, through the port of Constanta, whether it is cargo groupage services (LCL) or full containers (FCL).

Thus, in the next period, an important increase in the port operations in the port of Constanta is foreseen, having a considerable impact on the times required for the documentary and physical customs processing of the commercial goods, especially the containerized ones. Romanian importers would do well to prepare for congestion and transit delays through Constanta port or, in case they operate larger volumes of containers or LCL consignments, to redirect part of the flow of goods to other ports of entry into Europe (Hamburg, Rotterdam, Koper).
