Key Insights & Executive Summary
The Port of Constanța is congested by cargo moving to and from Ukraine. To ease delays, Constanța South Customs and DP World launched a weekend operations pilot: on 17–18 October 2026, the Import and Transit departments worked, the terminal gate ran night shifts for container pick-up and delivery, and CFS customs inspections took place between 08:00 and 16:00.
The result is longer gate queues, longer waits for container pick-up and delivery, and more pressure on customs inspections.
To ease the situation, Constanța South Customs and DP World Constanța have launched a weekend operations pilot. On the weekend of 17–18 October 2026:
- the customs Import and Transit departments worked on both Saturday and Sunday;
- the DP World terminal gate operated during the night shifts for container pick-up and delivery;
- customs inspections were available at the CFS facility between 08:00 and 16:00.
For now the scheme is announced one weekend at a time, and future dates will be communicated separately. For importers and exporters, this means more hours in which containers can be collected and cleared, so less dwell time and fewer extra costs.
Arwen Olsen monitors the port situation daily and will tell clients as soon as new weekend operating days are announced, so shipments can be planned as efficiently as possible. For details on your shipments through Constanța, feel free to contact us at any time.
